One of our employees here at Party Pail, Kim, had some great things to say about the topic of teenage birthday parties. Once your child becomes a teenager planning a birthday celebration is a lot different than the parties you used to throw them as children, but you can make the moments just as special by tailoring the party toward more age appropriate activities and involving them in the event planning. You’ll end up with a birthday event that your teenager and all of their friends will enjoy and you’ll even have spent a little quality time with them in the process! Here’s what Kim had to say:
At what age do kids stop having birthday parties? This is a hot topic that is constantly being discussed among my circle of friends. Many of us a have teenagers between ages fourteen and sixteen. We all debate whether parties should stop after the infamous thirteenth birthday when they become an official “teenager” or if you continue to throw them parties until they are well beyond 16. While we all have different opinions, we do agree that the kids love to celebrate even if you don’t throw them a big party. So here are some suggestions that could work for you.
Take a group of kids to laser tag. Many of the facilities have a small party room you can use for cake and present s after they are done. If you’re hosting a party for your teenage daughter one of the hottest trends in party supplies is zebra print. Consider these pink zebra party supplies.
Take a group bowling. Most bowling alleys have “moonlight bowl.” You come in after dark and bowl until midnight or so. This is great for a larger group. You can use several lanes at one time to make the most of the games you bowl. Typically there is music, strobe lights, and usually a place to order food.
Indoor go cart racing is another favorite among the teenage boys. Hours of fun are to be had racing around the track trying to get the top time of the night. You could give away prizes to the top 3 best times of the evening.
Lastly, one of my favorites is a pool party. Most cities have indoor pools where you can rent the facility for a couple of hours. They can swim, play water games, and dive. Usually they will let you bring in your own food and cake. We have a great selection of party supplies that would complement the party nicely. Milestone Celebrations Decorations is a bright pattern that would be a fun way to bring some color to the party. Another bight and fun pattern is the Cake Celebration 16th Birthday Supplies.
Choose a party for your teenager that reflects their personality, likes and interests and allows them to socialize and hang out with their friends. Then, you can sit back and watch as they create some fun memories together!
We’re curious, at what age do you think you should stop throwing your child a birthday party?
